And I am...
Clover, or Alexandra! Hello :) I'm called Alley for short, but as I'm getting older, I'm growing into Alexandra, it's different if nothing else.
While Rachel spends her time wishing she looked like Kristen Stewart, I spend most of my days wishing I looked like either Cheryl Cole or Katy Perry.
What I'm expecting...
After finding out that William Tempest and a few magazine companies and such started following us on twitter, Rachel and I made a promise that we will put more effort into this blog. We may be lacking followers on blogger, but we certainly seem to be making up for it on Twitter!
Like Rachel said, we don't hold some high-flying position in a massive fashion and beauty related company, we don't even work in retail! We're simply two friends who love all things fashion and beauty related, and stand to represent the "everyday girl". We want to represent the girls who hold down all manners of jobs, the 9-5 woman, the girlfriend, the mother, the wife, in short; you. Like most of us, we don't have a never-ending bank balance, we can't just walk into Selfridges and order six pairs of Christian Louboutin's in various colours to match the delightful little Valentino we picked up earlier - we're fashion and beauty savvy on a budget, be that a small or a generous one at that.
One of my pet hates is the idea that being stylish means having to be thin - lies! Women are beautiful in all shapes and sizes, and the best part about today fashion industry is that there's a designer and a style out there to suit you, to make you look and feel fabulous, to accentuate your best features and make the most of what you've got, regardless of age or size. Like Rachel said, if this blog was lucky enough to take off, we won't ever lose sight of any of this. I'll never start flicking through the glossies and think that I need to be slimmer, or think that the clothes and beauty ideas I see will look better on someone else. I'm a real woman with curves, and you know what? I actually love it! Fashion can be fun, it doesn't have to be expensive, boring or bang on trend, take what you love, what suits you, and what you wouldn't normally wear, mix it up and create something new... you never know, you may just start a new trend!
Who am I?
I'm 22 and I hold a Foundation Degree in Law, yet I don't work in that field. I've been a waitress, worked in a pound shop (I left here and gave my job to Rachel!), been a barista (I also left here and Rachel worked for their sister-shop) and spent many, many years in a card shop. These days, without going into too much detail due to confidentiality reasons, I start a new job tomorrow that I'm anxious, nervous and excited about, doing something I've always wanted to do, and I'm really looking forward to it. Rachel and I met on the first day of secondary school over a decade ago, and have been friends ever since. In relation to where her parents and mine live, we could hang out of the windows and shout and we'd hear each other!
I don't follow everything bang on trend and I've always said I'd love Gok Wan to take me shopping! I'd like to think my celebrity inspirations would be the likes of Cheryl Cole, Katy Perry and Holly Willoughby, with a lot of myself thrown in there, too. In my teenage years, I was more the 'gothic' one among myself - very different to how I am now! I've only just ended my love affair with hair extensions (I'll explain that one later) and I love getting a spray tan, having my nails done and wearing false eyelashes (I promise I'm not all fake, though! I only do these things now on special occasions due to adult things I have to pay for taking over!) My wardrobes also nothing short of fascinating! I have my pretty flowery blouses, sheer shirts and high waisted trousers for work, followed by pencil skirts and skinny jeans, a large collection of leggings, vintage dresses, peplum tops and dresses - both maxi and short, big bags, designer bags, clutch bags, UGG boots, stilettos, shoe boots, peep toes, dolly shoes and plimsolls. I am mostly a very leggings and tights kind of girl, but I'm learning to wear other things, too.
So there you have it! You know who I am and know that I've never even worked so much as a receptionist for a fashion and beauty company. I simply love all things fashion and beauty, trying out new things, mixing them up a little and enjoying myself along the way. 2013 is the year of all things great and sharing this blog and keeping on top of it is something we've promised to do as well as living our lives.
If you want to contact us, great! Go ahead! Be kind, be tactful, but most of all, be yourselves!
Until next time!
Alley x
