Going Goth

So, that thing about me having no money, but wanting a new dress for that night out that isn’t until September. Well the inevitable happened and I fell in love with a dress and bought it, ready. You know, just because I had to buy it sometime, right?
£36 Topshop

I’ve forgiven Topshop and bought into autumn’s gothic trend. You can’t enter any high street store without being bombarded with skull and cross prints, fierce, lethal looking embellishments, leathers and buckles.

Fashion has gone goth. But there’s no need to drag out the trench coats and black lipstick just yet, just hints of gothic drama through accessories, or picking one gothic element as the key piece to your outfit and pairing with lady like blouses in rich, jewel tones will be enough for a grown up, more feminine take on goth. I plan on wearing this with my two strand cross necklace that I’ve pictured previously, but here’s a close up.

£7.50 Topshop

I did buy these to go with the dress. With it being an indie night, I didn’t fancy wearing heels, but I feel it’s an insult to the dress not to, and I felt like a 14 year old emo kid in flats, so I’ll be wearing chunky black heels with it to do it justice and make my legs look longer. The necklace, when I’ve tried it with the dress just doesn’t look right, but for £9 for both in Primark, I’ll just be keeping them and using them to ‘goth up’ my casual wear.
Necklace £4, shoes £5, both Primark

So, that’s my unnecessary spend of the week. Roll on pay day. I promise I’ll be more responsible with my money from now on. Here’s some other gloriously gothic pieces to give you inspiration.

Have fun!
