Today, Clover and I decided we would go on a road trip under
the pretence of bargain hunting, ‘browsing’ and a Starbucks. I came home with
bargains, but in my current financial state, I struggle to justify those.
Determined to dress at least a little bit summery, as it is,
believe it or not, still August, I wore this: Jeans: £38, Topshop, vest: £10,
Topshop, sandals: £6, Primark, scarf: about £4, Primark (it was a gift) and
necklace: Junk Jewels. I also took my elephant bag that I got for my last
birthday from Next. I love pairing more expensive high street pieces with
bargain finds; it adds something individual that makes it stand out from the
Topshop and River Island clones.
Primark is always a mistake when I’m watching the pennies as
I end up buying things because they’re cheap, even though I can’t afford them.
I went in for a new black vest to wear to the gym or under see through shirts.
Thinking of see through shirts, I spotted this burgundy beauty for £10.
I already have this shirt in a summery, burnt orange colour,
but the burgundy makes this shirt a perfect and on trend transitional piece.
Light enough to wear with dolly shoes and skinny jeans, but the colour makes it
perfect for layering under a knitted cardigan or a coat and the infamous ankle
boots. It would nail the gothic trend with dark nail paint and layered cross
pendants, or a skull print scarf.
My most pleasing find of the day was cheaper than my
Starbucks, and even cheaper than paying to park my car. These owl earrings were
£1.50 from River Island. There are all kinds of quirky studs from moustaches to
carousel horses, and for £1.50 you can’t go wrong. Well… your lobes might go
green, but I’ll keep you posted on that one.
